Foodie Friday: The hunt for the perfect cookie

If you're a fan of chocolate chip cookies like we are, you'll be thrilled to know that Lonsdale is home to some incredible bakeries and cafes that serve mouthwatering versions of this classic treat. Today, we’re going to take you on a tour of three local establishments renowned for their baked goods: Catch 122, Nemesis Cafe and the new kid on the block - Dolce Amore. (Spoiler alert: they all rock.)

Here we go…

Catch 122

Address: 128 Carrie Cates Ct, North Vancouver, BC V7M 0G7

🍪 Price: $4.62

  • Texture: It’s soft, buttery, and sugary, with a gooey centre and a crispy edge. Deeeelish!

  • Size: Thin-ish and large - easily sharable between two pals.

  • Ingredients: The espresso flavour joins the party via the chocolate drizzle throughout. True bakery brilliance at work. It’s super high quality butter and tastes freshly baked - a key cookie characteristic.

Overall Remarks:

This cookie takes the fancy pants title, cause he’s like… rich-rich. It’s a delicious high quality cookie and if you love butter as much as we do - this is an ideal cookie for you. The espresso is a perfect compliment without being too overwhelming. It’s the ultimate one-two punch — who doesn’t love coffee with a cookie?!

Nemesis Cafe

Address: 101 Carrie Cates Court, North Vancouver, BC V7M 3J4
🍪 Price: $4.60

  • Texture: Nemesis Cafe's chocolate chip cookies boast a satisfyingly crunchy texture all the way through, thanks to the special guest ingredient— cashews. These cookies dabble in the nut zone without it being an all consuming flavour (like their nutty neighbour peanut butter). The decadent chocolate drizzle and fresh cracked sea salt makes them a real treat to sink your teeth into.

  • Size: Thin, flat and large - similar to their neighbours at Catch 122. Big enough to share with a friend.

  • Ingredients: Nemesis Cafe's commitment to using high-quality ingredients is evident in their chocolate chip cookies. With a blend of premium chocolate chips and cashews, these cookies are a classic with a twist.

Overall Remarks: What sets Nemesis Cafe's chocolate chip cookies apart is their slightly nutty flavour. If you aren’t a super gooey guy or gal then these are a perfect treat for you. Pair it with a steaming cup of coffee and you'll be in dessert heaven.

Dolce Amore - Lolo

Address: 113 2nd St W, North Vancouver, BC V7M 2E7
🍪 Price: $3.75

  • Texture: She is a doughy girl - boarder lines on loaf consistency, TBH. She melts in your mouth, she’s soft and she’s thick. Despite its large serving size, it’s perfectly baked all the way through.

  • Size: Homegirl is big enough for 4 pals to share. She doubles in size of her local comrades.

  • Ingredients: There is more flour than butter in this big ol’ treat. The chocolate is exceptional and spread out in decent sized chucks.

Overall Remarks: This cookie demands your respect and is without a doubt the best bang for your buck. The price tag sits under two toonies and you could even spread the love after a couple of mealz. While the size may be daunting to those faint of heart - it’s worth the challenge. It’s cookie comatose time!

Whether you're a cookie connoisseur or simply enjoy treating yourself to a sweet delight, these Lonsdale establishments offer an array of chocolate chip cookies that are sure to satisfy your cravings. So, grab a friend, embark on a cookie-eating adventure, and let your taste buds have a chocolate party in your mouth.
